Features

The Sony Ericsson Z200 mobile phone was announced at a press event alongside the T230 and Z600 models. It was positioned as a mid-range, entry-level clamshell phone designed for the youth market. Notably, it offered users the ability to personalise their devices with the “Style-Up” interchangeable covers. It was one of Sony Ericsson’s first flip phones for the European market and included several features aimed at its target demographic. A notable part of the design was the distinctive circular, monochrome external LCD screen that could display a retro analogue or digital watch face. Another interesting feature of the device was the integrated infrared (IrDA) port. Devices such as PDAs could be connected wirelessly to the phone via this port, offering data transmission over the GPRS data network. Other notable elements were the built-in games and an optional snap-on digital camera accessory. The prototype phone in the Mobile Phone Museum collection has blue, red and white Style-Up interchangeable covers.
