The Digital Mova P503i HYPER was made by Panasonic for NTT DoCoMo.
It was released at the same time as the F503i  and these devices were the first phones that were compatible with DoCoMo's i-appli service. It could save up to seven i-appli apps, which was less than the F503i, which could save up to 50 apps. The P503i supported the DoCoMo "Ir-Kiss" service which allowed users to you can exchange contacts, calendar events, memos and emails via its infrared port using the IrMC standard. The phone had several built in games: Dance Revolution. Tetris and Moguraa. It also had a "sound mixer" function that allowed users to create their own ringtones.
It is famous because it suffered from a series of software problems. On February 8, 2001, DoCoMo announced a bug related to how images were managed in the Web browser. Under certain conditions, accessing a web page would cause the phone to crash in some cases deleting address data, saved i-appli applications, emails, and ringtones. DoCoMo has to temporarily suspend sales and recall the 230,000 units it had already sold. Later, in April 2001 another  problem emerged where i-appli apps could not be downloaded. This was followed by more problems in July 200l resulting in DoCoMo having to temporarily suspend sales. It emerged that after the phone was "attached" to the same base station for a certain period of time it would stop being able to receive calls. Strangely, this problem could be overcome when a charger was connected.
