Features

This mid-range phone was well suited to the growing availability of 3G mobile networks. The device in the Mobile Phone Museum collection is a prototype unit that features branding from Italian network operators TIM and is also branded with “UMTS” – the 3G standard it supported. Openwave Systems also provided an integrated WAP browser. It featured a 256k colour display, which suited basic tasks, including viewing pictures and playing games. The phone had a rear-facing 1.3-megapixel camera and a forward-facing VGA camera for video calling. It also featured a 3.5mm headset jack and supported polyphonic ringtones. At launch, it was regarded as an affordable 3G phone given its €190 price tag.
