Features

Ericsson claimed the R250s PRO was “the world’s first water, dust and shock resistant phone” when it was launched in 1999. It was designed for use by “construction workers, craftsmen, forestry workers, transport personnel and others” who needed “a robust and reliable phone in their line of work”. It was equipped with Gortex membranes and rubber gaskets to protect against water and dust. It also had a sturdy magnesium frame and rubber moulding which “could withstand harsh treatment”. It was notable for supporting the GSM Pro system, which combined the advantages of private mobile radio (PMR) with GSM. The phone came in two colours: “bright, eye-catching orange or a sober, dark green”.
