Features

The Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition is a great example of this luxury line of exclusive phones. It was created to mark the 60th anniversary of Ferrari. It was the first of several collaborations that Vertu did with Ferrari. The design reflects the tie-up with Ferrari in several areas. The leather used on the phone is the same leather that is found in Ferrari interiors, sourced from the same Italian tanneries and dyed the exact shade of Ferrari-red featured on the leather in the cars. On the back of the device, there is a scale replica of Ferrari’s iconic knurled brake pedal. The attention to detail is reflected in the fact that it uses the same grade of aluminium as is used on the cars. The phone has the same design as the “regular” Ascent models, but “reflecting its high-speed inspiration” the Vertu Ascent Ferrari is lighter through the use of titanium for the frame and bezel rather than Liquidmetal. The keypad is a design masterpiece on its own. To ensure the keys rock perfectly when they are pressed, each one pivots on an independent steel axle that runs between two ruby gemstone bearings. The number, letters and other markings on each key are micro-drilled with 0.33mm laser-drilled holes (575 in total) which are individually hand-filled with a light-permeable ruby lacquer. The screen is made of sapphire and is extremely strong, with diamonds being the only stronger substance on Earth. It can resist almost all scratches – even if you try to gouge it with a steel key. This particular phone was the 114th model to be made in this collection (which was limited to 1947 units) and was originally sold in December 2007.
