The SGJ-U800, also known as the 'Soul b', was the third phone in the 'Soul' series following the U900 Soul slider phone and the G400 Soul flip / clamshell flip phone. The phone was part of Samsung's Ultra range of mobile phones. The Soul brand name was created by Samsung and stood for "spirit of Ultra". The strapline on the U800's packaging was "the ultimate silhouette". The phone had a minimalistic design with a brushed-metal finish and was widely regarded as a competitor to the Nokia 6500 classic. The U800 was only 9.9mm thick and featured a vibrant two-inch 16 million colour TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution. It also had a three-megapixel camera, which was considered a little disappointing compared to the other Soul products which had five-megapixel cameras. The phone came in five different colours: Soul Grey, Platinum Silver, Metallic Black, Soul Pink and Amethyst Violet. At the time of launch, it had a retail price of €350. The pink version of the U800 was launched in the UK in July 2008 as an exclusive variant to support and drive awareness of breast cancer in the UK. With each Samsung U800 Pink sold, £10 was donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK's leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, campaigning and education.
