The Sony CM-X1000 was a variant of the Siemens S4. Siemens manufactured the phone on behalf of Sony.  It was a single-band GSM phone supporting the 900MHz frequency. It had an extendable antenna which improved its performance, but it needed to be fully extended and locked in place to work correctly. It was also possible to both receive and send SMS text messages. Users could configure a personal greeting that would appear when the phone was switched. on.
